As a designer I am committed to creating beautiful, functional materials in print and online; working closely and communicating effectively with clients; and making my services affordable and accessible to creative people and small businesses and organizations. Read on to learn more about what you can expect when working with me, or contact me to discuss your project.
I create web sites that are simple, elegant, and functional – sites that highlight your content and message, make everything easy to find, and look great. I will work with you to develop an original, custom site design that meets your specific needs. We’ll explore color schemes, layout concepts, textures, and fonts to craft a visual concept that feels right for your project. Then I’ll construct the nuts and bolts, creating the code, documents, and images that underpin your site.
Next, I’ll set up your site in WordPress, a powerful, free, open source content management system that makes web site editing and maintenance easy and accessible. Ever been frustrated with trying to update a web site? Scared you have to know HTML in order to maintain your own site? Never fear! WordPress will allow you to make changes, add blog posts, upload photos or videos, or whatever you need to do to keep your site up-to-date, all through a simple web interface. With WordPress you can be in charge of the content of your site without needing a web designer every time you want to make an edit.
Domains and Hosting
Finally, I’ll walk you through the process of setting up a web hosting account (the physical servers where your site resides), registering a domain (your site’s address on the web), and making your site available to the world. I offer affordable web hosting as part of my account with Canvas Dreams, a wind-powered, sustainability-oriented, Portland, Oregon-based company.

When it comes to getting your message across there’s no substitute for a beautiful, tangible object that you can hold in your hand. I design visually compelling printed materials to advertise your business, publicize your event, promote your group, or whatever you might need. Whether it’s brochures, T-shirts, posters, business cards, CD packaging, invitations, or all of the above, I’ll work with you to make it look just right.
When it’s time to print your materials I have relationships with skilled, reputable printers and manufacturers in Vermont and elsewhere. I can oversee the printing process so you don’t have to worry about it, and so the final product looks perfect.
Need a web site, logo, CD cover, posters, and T shirts, all with a coordinated design? No problem, I can work across various media and formats to create a consistent look and feel for all your materials.

Design the old fashioned way (sort of)
I build digital and print creations from scratch as much as possible using tools that allow me to have a great degree of control over the final product. No stock templates or generic layouts; everything I do is completely unique and customized. I prefer to write code and tweak pixels by hand for the same reason that I like to grow my own food: that’s the Vermont way, and it just tastes better.
While it’s true that I’m a bit of a geek about design, I’m also an excellent communicator, and I believe strongly in explaining technical concepts in plain English. I’ll make sure you understand your options and can make informed decisions about every step of the design process.
As a musician myself, I understand how difficult it can be for independent artists and small businesses to find the resources to adequately promote themselves. But, I also know that a great web site and eye-catching materials can make a huge difference in your business. You shouldn’t need a massive budget in order to get great design, and that’s why I strive to provide quality design services that are affordable for small businesses and creative people. I charge only for the time it takes to complete your specific project, so if your needs are simpler you’ll pay less. I hope you’ll get in touch to discuss your project and get a quote.
